Are you still an egg? It’s time you came out of your shell!
Twitter helpfully provides an egg avatar (profile picture) when you open a new account. We strongly recommend immediately replacing it with a photograph – it can be of you, or your logo – but please don’t just leave the egg. Like many businesses, we never follow eggs, because very often they are an indication that the account isn’t really used or that it is being used by a spammer or perhaps that the account holder doesn’t actually care that much about their business (ouch!).
Your profile picture is important; it is one of the fragments of information used to create the public profile of your business. To use all the wonderful free social media tools to their greatest potential you must pay attention to all these details, to create a public face which reflects your business in the way you want.
By the way, a new innovation at Twitter is the cover photo which is very like the cover photo on Facebook. We think it makes Twitter pages look very smart and it looks particularly ace on smartphones.
